Last week we updated our mobile platform for Apple devices, both the iPhone and iPad. This update not only streamlined bill creation but brought our scheduling tool to provider’s handheld devices as well. Over the weekend, we released an update for Android devices as well.

Today we’ll go over a few important points about the state of our mobile app.

The New MediMobile mHealth App

The core of our mobile application is and always will be mobile charge capture. We make it easy for providers to create patient bills at the point of care. But over time our software has evolved to bring a variety of other tools to the point of care. These include data capture, secure texting, scheduling tools and the patient handoff tool. Here are some things you need to know to take full advantage of MediMobile.

MediMobile Connectivity

MediMobile is the only charge capture tool that does not require a persistent wireless connection to create patient bills. Providers can create a charge wherever they are and sync it whenever they next have internet access.

But while our charge capture tool doesn’t require an internet connection, our scheduling and instant messaging tools do. Luckily cellular data can allow providers to use these tools in practice or hospitals without having Wi-Fi access. Providers should just keep the different internet requirements in mind when using our mobile app.

Using MediMobile’s New Tools

We’ve added tons of great new tools tool our mobile platform to help make all aspects of patient care easier for physicians. But some iPhone and iPad users may not see these new tools. If you use an Apple device, have downloaded our latest update, and still don’t see the scheduling option in the menu, there’s a simple fix.

Updating your operating system is crucial if you want to use the most updated version of most apps on your phone. For MediMobile users, updating to iOS 7 or later allows you to access both our scheduling tools for providers and the patient handoff tool from your mobile device.

This week we don’t have any new features, but there’s some big stuff on the horizon. For today’s Weekly Rounds, we’ll take a look at the Care Coordination Suite, a set of powerful communication tools included in our MediMobile Charge Capture Solution.

Care Coordination Suite

One of the biggest barriers to quality care is the gaps in information created by repeated patient transfers. According to the Joint Commission, 80% of serious medical errors involve miscommunication between caregivers during patient handoffs.

Our Care Coordination Suite gives providers the tools they need at the point-of-care to easily share details about patient care and ensure that connecting with colleagues is fast and mobile. Our suite includes 3 key features to improve communication about patient care:

The Patient Handoff Tool

The patient handoff tool means providers can transfer patients to another provider from their mobile phone or laptop. This lets caregivers share critical details about the patient’s diagnosis or care can be tied to their file. Not only does this simplify handoffs, but it ensures providers have the details they need without having to hunt down the referring doctor.

Secure Texting

important to have a secure mobile device for healthcare providersOur HIPAA-Compliant secure text & photo messaging allows providers to send and receive text and photo messages from other group members. Providers can do consults and get help quickly while ensuring all PHI is kept safe. Studies show that most caregivers already use texting in the course of patient care. We help hospitals guarantee that they maintain HIPAA compliance while doing so.

PCP Direct

The final piece of the puzzle is our PCP Direct tool. It allows providers to fax automatic status updates to primary care physicians or other team members involved in the care of a patient. This allows the entire care team to quickly be informed whenever something significant happens.

MediMobile Weekly Rounds – February 24, 2014

MediMobile Weekly Rounds is a look at what has happened in the past week at MediMobile, from new user preferences to company news. We want to make sure that our customers are in the loop about changes and improvements we have made to our Charge Capture solution. MediMobile-Weekly-Rounds-2013-charge-capture-solution-healthcare-2-24

Last week we launched a brand-new feature for the MediMobile Charge Capture Solution, the Patient Handoff tool. This new piece of our Transitional Care Suite helps simplify care coordination and streamlines the workflow for doctors. We’ve also added some additional features to keep patient transfers manageable.

MediMobile’s Patient Handoff Tool

The ability to share details about a patient’s care and treatment is essential to ensuring the quality of care. The Patient Handoff tool is intended to guarantee care coordination and simplify transitional care. From the patient action menu, providers can move a patient from their list to another provider’s list. Doctors can also attach notes about a patient’s disposition as well as information about the diagnosis and treatment.

Patient search results include an indicator to highlight when there are handoff notes. They will be to the right of the patient name. When you see a patient record, an “f” indicates that there is a facesheet, an ‘n’ indicates notes, and an ‘h’ indicates handoff notes.

Patient handoff notes are recreated each time the patient is moved. Old notes are archived at the bottom of the patient record. This means providers can easily access old handoff notes for relevant, recent history.

New MediMobile Features

We’ve added some color-coding features that will help simplify the process of tracking patient transfers for providers.

When someone else adds a patient to a provider’s list, the patient’s name will be blue. Also, when another provider has billed a patient for today’s date of service, the $ next to the patient’s name will be blue, rather than green. This helps prevent duplicate billing and is particularly important with the release of the Patient Handoff tool.

The final new addition is that for provider’s with a data feed, the admit time is included in the patient details. For groups without the feed, the admit time defaults to 12AM.

These updates are already available on the MediMobile web portal, and will be released for mobile devices in the next couple of weeks.

If you have any questions about these new features you can contact our support team at support@medimobile.com or call 877.495.2070.

Things are looking sunny as the crazy weather the US has been dealing with finally seems to be behind us!  As for MediMobile news, providers should be excited because we’re announcing our newest feature: the Patient Handoff tool. This will make our already robust transitional care suite even better. We’ve also made a few updates to our Charge Review Platform and to MediMobile.

MediMobile’s Patient Handoff Tool

In the next few weeks we’ll be launching the Patient Handoff tool. This is a simple addition that will have a big impact on care coordination. The Patient Handoff feature has two key abilities. The first is that it allows providers to transfer patients from their own list to another physician’s list from the web portal or their mobile device. This makes handoffs unbelievably simple.

The other aspect of the Patient Handoff tool is that it allows providers to include transfer notes about the patient’s disposition, symptoms, the diagnosis and any other important details. The receiving providers can view the Patient Handoff notes by clicking the orange ‘H.’ Previous notes will be archived and included in the patient records so they can be easily accessed.

The handoff feature will be automatically added to your MediMobile Charge Capture tool and will be available on all of our platforms. If you have any questions about how this will work you can contact our support team by emailing support@mediobile.com or calling 877.495.2070. We will email all providers and administrators currently using MediMobile before we launch the tool.

New MediMobile Features

We’ve released a few updates for our Charge Review tool. The first is that the status count report has been updated to include only bills currently being worked – archived bills will be excluded to make the list more readable. The other new feature is that the ZIP code field has been updated so that the extended zip code can easily be included.

The new MediMobile feature (in addition to the patient handoff tool) is an update to avoid accidental duplicate bills. When a patient has been billed for today’s date of service by another provider, the dollar sign ($) indicating that the patient has been billed will be blue. If you want to turn on this feature for your practice or hospital, contact our support team at 877.495.2070 or email support@medimobile.com.
